Julia Heathcote

Location: London
Julia is a palaeontology post graduate student at Birkbeck, University of London with an interest in situations within academia where young academics and students in particular, are victimized because of their “lowly status” in academia. Her continuing work supporting students is fired by her own experience of being sexually assaulted by her PhD adviser while at University in the USA, 2003 and the ensuing drawn out process over three years before he was forced to resign.
She has campaigned for a fair trial in a recent plagiarism case, where students were the victims, and has been appointed chair of the Student Liaison Committee within the Society of Vertebrate Palaeontology. She has a website that you can visit for more information on her studies.
