Contribute: Scottish Transgender Alliance and Gender Spectrum UK Survey on Equality Bill Priority Issues

21May09

The Scottish Transgender Alliance and Gender Spectrum UK are conducting a survey to fully formulate the needs of the trans community in the amendments of the Equality Bill anticipated at the Committee Stage of it’s reading.

The Scottish Transgender Alliance and Gender Spectrum UK both recognise there are many sections of the Equality Bill that we wish were better in how they address transphobic discrimination and harassment. However, the Equality Bill will be a particularly difficult bill to amend due to the huge number of different equality sector and other groups all lobbying for different amendments. Time constraints in the Parliamentary Debates are likely to make it exceptionally hard to get even one trans equality amendment debated.

Therefore, this joint Scottish Transgender Alliance and Gender Spectrum UK consultation survey is specifically focused on trying to determine what the majority of respondents consider to be their KEY PRIORITY for amendment

The survey closes on May 23rd, and should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. The results of the survey will be simultaneously be published at the Scottish Transgender Alliance and Gender Spectrum UK websites on May 25th.
