Event: Bristol Reclaim the Night 20.02.09

A purely informational post from the Femilist to let you know about the Bristol Reclaim the Night, one of many RTN events which aims to restate that women should have nothing to fear from the streets and, in this instance, to try and secure funding for support victims, to educate on safety and respect to prevent sexual violence and to demand an increase in rape convictions.

6pm Candle lit vigil at College Green.
The evening will begin with an act of
remembrance to pay respect to those who are affected by violence in our city. We will respect a minute’s silence before the march begins.

7pm March begins from College Green.
Make some noise, bring candle light and join the march from College Green, through Castle Park to Easton.

8pm March reaches Trinity for stalls & speeches
Hear from the people in our city who provide support services, represent vulnerable sections of our community and campaign for change. Visit stalls to learn about related local, national and international campaigns.

9.30 – Drinks, music and dancing until midnight at Trinity.
Come and celebrate the
achievements made in Bristol so far. This spring will see the opening of a dedicated Sexual Assault Referral Centre and the Bristol Rape Crisis centre. Hundreds of people have come together with a desire to make our city safer, let’s celebrate that! Suggested donation £1.

Visit the Bristol Feminist Network website for more information.
